We work with trustees, employers, pension specialists and business advisers to protect members' benefits and encourage high standards in running pensions schemes.
You will be based in England's loveliest and liveliest city by the sea, Brighton is fun, cosmopolitan and uniquely eccentric all year round.
This role is restricted to civil servants only (permanent and on loan opportunities available) No agencies please.
Purpose:
To deliver high quality policy interventions that enable the regulator to achieve its objectives and to be responsible for leading projects through the regulatory policy and programmes project pipeline.
Core accountabilities:
Successfully delivering evidence based end to end complex and strategic projects working with diverse stakeholders and virtual teams on policy oriented programmes
- Designing policies that take account of legal environment, EU considerations
- Delivering to all stages of the policy pipeline ensuring rigorous scoping and benefit identification, flexible and innovative solutions
- Providing guidance on policy and regulatory appraisal including effective anticipation of risk consistent with The Pensions Regulator strategy and identifying new policy work
- Ensuring policies, programmes & services are on track and deliver desired outcomes
- Providing advice on the presentation and implementation of policies, and ensuring policy interventions are communicated effectively
- Keeping the organisation up to date with developments that affect industry and their effect on the sector, and anticipating future developments
- Effectively managing complex stakeholder relationships (internally and externally)
Essential criteria:
- Demonstrable knowledge of related industry sectors, regulatory principles and commercial awareness
- Excellent track record of leading and delivering on complex projects and policy initiatives with multi disciplined teams
- High level knowledge of the related industry, commercial, stakeholder and government issues
- Strong ability in delivering evidence based policy making from start to completion, drawing in operational, research and analysis and international experience delivered following regulatory best practice (the Hampton principles)
- Demonstrable track record of results driven orientation, the ability to make and maintain strong relationships, both internally and externally
- Significant analytical and problem solving ability to achieve pragmatic solutions, and the ability to prioritise based on informed risk-based judgements
- The ability to manage change effectively: identifying resistance; building engagement and involvement, and rewarding innovation
- Evidence of sustaining a high level of drive, enthusiasm and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work
- Able to communicate and present in a range of formats and situations clearly, confidently and to a level appropriate for the audience up to board
