Purpose

Providing technical advice on complex pensions and regulatory issues and contributing to a wide range of policy pipeline projects in a strategic theme.

Core accountabilities

  • Producing comprehensive briefings and advice for technical and non-technical audiences on complex pensions and regulatory issues
  • Working with DWP and other statutory partners to clarify policy intent, strengthen legislative drafting and to influence legislation to support the regulator's objectives and ease implementation
  • Analysing and assessing risks arising from new legislation and practice and taking responsibility for delivering an appropriate response
  • Actively identifying and gathering a sound evidence base to inform policy making
  • Providing excellent technical advice on pension, financial and regulatory issues
  • Delivering responses to a wide range of external consultations
  • Ensuring the regulator is kept up to date with developments that affect industry and its regulation

Essential criteria

  • Proven evidence of relevant and in-depth technical knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment
  • Track record of actively identifying and gathering a sound evidence base to inform policy making, and maintaining the information in a readily accessible format for knowledge sharing
  • Strong links to relevant stakeholders to ensure knowledge base is kept up to date
  • Ability to identify the implications of legislative drafting and the ability to advise policy leads on changes needed to support organisational objectives and allow ease in implementation
  • Proven ability to analyse and assess risks arising from new legislation and practice and taking responsibility for delivering an appropriate response on range of projects
  • Experience in producing comprehensive briefings and advice for technical and non-technical audiences on complex pensions and regulatory issues
  • Experience of being an approachable team member able to act as a resource to a wide range of policy and operational colleagues and business as usual
