Benefits of our secondment programme
Secondments with The Pensions Regulator benefit all parties – the individual, their parent organisation and the regulator. They provide an effective way for your organisation to 'get under the skin' of the regulator and understand the implications of pensions policy on your clients and customers.
Our leaflet Gain a closer perspective on pensions tells you more.
Our secondees return to their employers with a diverse array of skills, knowledge and experience in all aspects of our work. Afterwards, they have the opportunity to network with a wide range of our former secondees across the fields of pensions, law, accountancy and business analysis.
And, of course, we gain enormously from the transfer of skills and experience that people bring from other parts of the business world - it enables us to be more outward-looking, commercially focused and aware of our
customers' needs.
The key benefits of joining our secondment programme:
- Secondees return to their employer and clients with valuable skills and experience
- Secondees – and in turn their employer – gain specialist knowledge
- The opportunity to widen and enhance networks of valuable contacts
- The chance to understand us and our impact on the business landscape
- The chance to shape how things are done
We pay a secondee's normal salary and travel expenses throughout a secondment. We also spend time making sure our secondees get what they need in terms of development.
As a pensions auditor, I was attracted to a secondment at The Pensions Regulator as it was directly relevant to my job. It also really benefited my career. I got promoted....
What sort of secondment opportunities are there?
We're flexible and open to ideas – more than happy to create a customised package to suit an individual secondment. In the past, we've enjoyed hosting secondees who were lawyers, actuaries, business consultants and financial analysts. But now, aware of the different issues that many companies are facing, we're keen to attract a wider range of people.
We can have a chat about skills and requirements. Then, depending on the results, we can devise a package that works for all involved.
For example, a secondee could be placed in one position for the duration, or a number of positions around the organisation, to give a perspective of pensions regulation from all angles.
And we're happy to consider any of the following working structures:
- short or long term
- part time or flexible working
- job sharing
- job swaps
I wanted something different at a time in my career when I needed an extra dimension to my CV...
I got the chance to shape how things are done in the future, particularly in policy
