Our commitment

The Pensions Regulator is committed to minimising the impact of
its activities on the environment.

We aim to reduce carbon emissions produced through our existence
by 10% in 2010-2011, relative to 2009-2010 levels.

We will achieve this by:

  •  Measuring our impact on the environment and setting targets for ongoing improvement.
  • Taking action to reduce the carbon footprint of our business activities
to meet our published objectives and targets.
  • Continuously improving our environmental performance and integrating recognised environmental management best practice into our business operations.
  • Complying with all relevant environmental legislation.
  • Reducing our consumption of resources and improving the efficient
    use of those resources.
  • Managing waste generated from our business operations according
to the principles of reduction, re-use and recycling.
  • Giving due consideration when sourcing and producing publications
    and promotional materials.
  • Giving due consideration to environmental issues and energy performance
in the acquisition, design, refurbishment, location and use of our building.
  • Ensuring environmental criteria are taken into account in the procurement
    of goods and services.

To meet our commitments, we will:

  • Communicate the importance of environmental issues to our staff.
  • Communicate internally and externally our environmental policy and
performance on a regular basis, and encourage feedback.
  • Set and monitor key objectives and targets for managing our
    environmental performance at least annually.
