Complaints

This guidance sets out what you need to do if you have queries, concerns or complaints about:

  • the conduct of the Pensions Regulator's staff; or
  • administrative actions taken by the Pensions Regulator.

It also sets out what to do if you have a problem with your pension scheme.

Sometimes complaints are made because of a misunderstanding about what the Pensions Regulator can do. The Pensions Regulator was introduced by the Pensions Act 2004 to regulate work-based pensions.

What the Pensions Regulator cannot do

  • We cannot help you with questions about state pensions or about individual complaints on behalf of pension scheme members.
  • We cannot intervene in disputes between individual pension scheme members and scheme trustees, managers or employers.
  • We cannot help members with claims for compensation.
  • We are not responsible for making or drafting pensions legislation.
