The board

The board of the Pensions Regulator meets once a month and comprises the chair, five non-executive members, the chief executive and three executive directors.

All board members are appointed by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions following open competition.

Their key responsibilities are:

  • overseeing the regulator’s strategic direction and making key decisions on policy;
  • ensuring the regulator is properly run as a public body and has effective internal controls; and
  • ensuring that statutory and administrative requirements for the use of public funds are complied with.
