We would like to conduct a number of interviews with those who are directly involved in the pension reporting at the NHS. Hence, we would appreciate if you could provide us with the contacts of the departments / people that you consider relevant for this purpose. The main people we want to speak to are the accounting officer(s) involved in NHS pension reporting, representatives from the NHS Business Service Authority for Pension and Comptroller and Audit General.


Duty to confirm or deny whether TPR holds the information requested

Following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that The Pensions Regulator (TPR) does not hold the information you have requested.

Duty to advise and assist under section 16

I am mindful of the duty, under section 16 of the Freedom of Information Act, to provide advice and assistance where it is possible to do so.

TPR has a number of staff who are responsible for carrying out its duties with regard to public service pension schemes.

You may be aware that any information that TPR has obtained in the exercise of its functions which relates to the business or other affairs of any person is classed as restricted information under section 82 of the Pensions Act 2004 (the 'Act'). It is an offence under section 85 of the Act to disclose information unless an exception within the Act permits disclosure.

It may be, dependent upon your questions, that the responses you seek cannot be lawfully provided and I would ask you to be mindful of this restriction.
