I can confirm that we hold the information you have requested.

Information we are able to supply

Below is a breakdown by job group of all The Pensions Regulator's (TPR) staff who received bonuses at the end of 2016-17.

Please note this includes all eligible fixed-term and permanent staff, as both contract types are included in the annual report and accounts.

  • Senior leadership team (permanent only) - 50% of our permanent senior leadership team members received a bonus for this period with 38% receiving a nomination level of ‘strong’, and 12% receiving a nomination level of ‘exceptional’.
  • People managers (permanent only) - 50% of our permanent people managers received a bonus for this period with 35% receiving a nomination level of ‘strong’, and 15% receiving a nomination level of ‘exceptional’.
  • Staff (permanent only) - 23% of our permanent staff received a bonus for this period with18% receiving a nomination level of ‘strong’, and 5% receiving a nomination level of ‘exceptional’.

A strong nomination level is awarded where performance is considered to significantly exceed expectations for the role or similar roles whereas an exceptional nomination level is awarded where performance is considered to be exceptional relative to the role or similar roles.

To ensure consistency and fairness in the operation of TPR’s bonus arrangements, all recommendations are subject to a rigorous moderation process, including moderation panels throughout TPR and final approval by the Remuneration Committee.
