TPR extends diversity kitemark for supporting disabled workers

Brighton-based employer The Pensions Regulator (TPR) has reached a higher level in the Disability Confident scheme by demonstrating its commitment to improving employment opportunities for disabled people and people with health conditions.
TPR joined the scheme in November last year and has now achieved Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) status by undertaking a number of core actions including providing employment for those with disabilities.
To progress through the scheme, TPR has also completed a self-assessment and committed to ensuring that disabled people and those with long term health conditions have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.
The scheme is designed to help employers recruit and retain people purely on the basis of their skills and talents, irrespective of any disability. There are three levels to the scheme, ‘committed', 'employer' and 'leader’.
Barbara Bush, TPR’s Director of HR, said: “Disability Confident is a superb scheme for employers to show they are serious about providing excellent opportunities to those with disabilities and to help existing staff to overcome health conditions and develop their skills. We are thrilled to be recognised as a Disability Confident Employer and will now be working hard to achieve Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) status.”
TPR, which has 700 staff, is the UK regulator of workplace pension schemes. We make sure that employers put their staff into a pension scheme and pay money into it. We also make sure that workplace pension schemes are run properly so that people can save safely for their later years.
