Meetings of the determinations panel
A sub-committee of the determinations panel, usually consisting of 3 members, normally sit once a month. A quorum for this meeting is deemed to be 2. The sub-committee determine on cases brought before them, in accordance with the regulatory functions they are able to exercise on behalf of the Regulator. These regulatory functions are detailed in
Schedule 1, Section 20 of the Act.
On occasions a sub-committee will be urgently convened to hear a 'special' procedure case under Section 97 of the Act. This is a procedure that can be exercised on behalf of the Regulator with immediate effect if it is believed that there is an immediate risk to members' benefits or scheme assets.
