Scope of knowledge and understanding

The Pensions Regulator has published a code of practice on trustee knowledge and understanding giving trustees practical guidance on their functions and the standards of conduct and practice expected. In developing this code, we put together a list of items that the pensions industry considers trustees need to know and understand, and a list of the documents containing policy with which trustees may need to be familiar. This list is known as the 'scope of knowledge and understanding'.

We are very grateful for the formidable contribution from the pensions industry in drawing up this scope. We believe that it accommodates, as far as possible, all the contributions of those who participated in workshops or responded to our online consultation. We believe that it provides a checklist for identifying gaps in knowledge and understanding, and planning further learning.
