Automatic enrolment test data pack for software developers

Employers need to accurately assess their staff to comply with their legal duties, as well as calculate and pay the pension contributions – and the right software can help them do this.

The test data pack (TDP) (ZIP, 1758kb) is designed to help software developers check any products that have automatic enrolment functionality.

The TDP includes 185 fictitious test scenarios for developers who want to test the accuracy of their automatic enrolment software against the legislation.

There are test scenarios for both categories of pay reference period (PRP) used for worker assessment purposes:

  • where the definition of the PRP is aligned with tax weeks or months (tax period-based PRPs)
  • where the PRP is defined as the ‘period by reference to which the worker is paid their regular wage or salary’ (calendar-based PRPs)

TDP users should already be familiar with the rules and requirements for the different employer duties and the technical terminology used in the tests.

More information about the employer duties and the automation of the assessment process can be found in the employers’ detailed guidance.
