Number of letters sent to trustees to send to members who requested a transfer

Request

  1. The number of letters The Pensions Regulator has sent to trustees of UK registered pension schemes to then send out to their members who have requested a transfer.
  2. A breakdown of these schemes using whatever categories TPR uses internally.
    Please provide the data for each of the last five years with a year-end 30 September, or whichever year-end is most convenient. If you cannot provide data for each of the last five years, then please data for each of the last three years. If that is not possible, then please data for each of the most recent two years.

Response

I can confirm that we hold information falling within scope of your request. However, we are unable to supply some of the information requested for the reason set out below.

Information we are able to supply

  1. We have sent out 29 letters to trustees of UK registered pension schemes to then send out to their members who have requested a transfer between 27 March and 16 November 2018.
  2. The letters referred to in point 1 above were sent to defined benefit pension schemes.

Information we are unable to supply

Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 exempts us from the requirement to provide information which is accessible to the applicant by other means.

Prior to 27 March 2018, details of letters that The Pensions Regulator sent to trustees of UK registered pension schemes to then send out to their members who have requested a transfer can be found in our annual reports. In these they are referred to as CETV (Cash Equivalent Transfer Value) requests.
