We’re looking for someone to run the corporate planning and reporting function. You will oversee the development of our annual plan, our regular re-forecasts and provide assurance to the executive and board on delivery.

The successful applicant will build the evidence base and narrative on TPR's performance for its internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating its purpose and building credibility and trust.

In this role, you will challenge the organisation to be efficient and effective in carrying out its duties and make the best use of public money in delivering its aims. You will co-ordinate alignment of TPRs resources and keep it focused on achieving its outcomes and statutory objectives.


You will:

  • lead the corporate planning process and deliver a corporate plan to TPR's stakeholders
  • lead the production of TPR’s assessment of quarterly and year end performance and deliver an annual report and accounts to Parliament
  • provide assurance to Exco, TPR board and DWP on organisational performance, the quality of its plans and the delivery of statutory objectives, making recommendations regarding risks to delivery and mitigations
  • determine key outcome and performance indicators, their true reflection of the organisation’s performance and drive the focus of TPR activity
  • be a senior leader of TPR to deliver on its corporate objectives, and a senior leader in the Finance and Corporate Services directorate
  • oversee the budget management of corporate planning and performance function

Essential criteria


  • Some knowledge of the pensions industry and landscape, change management, pension regulation and its effective application to achieve TPR's statutory objectives.
  • Knowledge of National Audit Office best practice, industry application of performance measurement frameworks and better regulation principles to pension regulation.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and performance management.
  • Ability to undertake highly unstructured work, systems thinking, be innovative and creative, and continually learn.
  • Skilled in communicating, influencing and challenging across all areas of the organisation, up and down its structure from analysts to non-executive board members in order to achieve the right outcomes. A highly skilled facilitator.


  • Knowledge of TPR’s strategy, strategy formulation and ability to translate longer term strategy into reality.
