Role

We’re looking for a Data Platform Specialist to:

  • provide technical management and development the TPR Azure Data Platform
  • ensure the Data platform performs for the business to agreed service levels
  • monitor and fix all integration issues between the Data Platform and Power BI and incoming data sources and datasets
  • set up new Data sources to import data into the Data Platform, test and deliver to the business Data team and end-users
  • assist in the creation of new datasets in the Data Platform and the use of this data in Power BI reporting

Responsibilities

  • Receive the list of prioritised development items for the Data Platform from the Data Platform Product Owner (Data Team) alongside consultation with the Data Solutions Manager (IT).
  • Direction will be given from the Head of IT Solutions and the business Data Team as well as through review with related IT colleagues.
  • Liaison with the third-party Supplier Adatis who built the Data Platform will be necessary in the short term for any code changes required to provide new data feeds or for recommended upgrades etc.
  • There is no budgeting responsibility.

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential:

  • SQL Databases or SQL Data Warehouse on Azure.
  • Azure Data Factory or SSIS.
  • Azure Analysis Services OR SSAS Tabular modelling.
  • Experience of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment of Data Warehousing on Azure would be a distinct advantage.
  • A large part of this role will be integrating new data feeds from various on-site ERP systems into our new Azure Data Warehouse.
  • Power BI skills.
  • Azure Data Lake Storage.
  • Azure SQL DW/Synapse Analytics.
  • Dynamics 365 (as a data source).
  • Customer facing/consultancy experience

Desirable:

  • Be an ambassador for IT within TPR, working across the business to provide effective communication on IT matters and build relationships with other teams to ensure effective dialogue between directorates.
  • Understand and identify business challenges and develop strategies and solutions to deliver added value to the business.
  • To be flexible in their approach to problem solving considering TPR governance but be creative in providing solutions to problems.
  • Seek guidance from the related development teams and personnel to enhance the service of the Data platform to the business.
