We are looking for a director to manage the design and implementation of the final phase of automatic enrolment (AE). You will lead the directorate in line with our values and culture as automatic enrolment becomes fully embedded in TPR's business as usual. An experienced leader, negotiator and excellent communicator, you will ensure that the generational change brought about by automatic enrolment is cemented into UK employment practice by delivering a robust and sustainable regulatory framework beyond 2020.


You will:

  • be responsible for the successful design and implementation of the final stages of the AE programme, including responsibility for all outsource arrangements and all internal operational delivery
  • responsible for the delivery of and embedding of efficient processes relating to AE into the organisation
  • lead on external engagement on AE
  • lead colleagues in the function demonstrating TPR values and culture
  • deliver the programme critical success factors, TPR KPIs for which this role is accountable within budget tolerances
  • develop excellent external stakeholder relationships including within government, the media and the private sector to continue to embed AE as the norm for employers – acting as the face of TPR on AE matters including media handling
  • member of the TPR Executive Committee; attend TPR Board as required – including constructive challenge and engagement at executive and board level

Essential criteria 

  • excellent demonstrable experience of leading the successful design, build, procurement and implementation of complex and large-scale change initiatives
  • a strong background in effective supplier and contract management for complex and large-scale initiatives
  • experience of exiting from major outsource provider (preferable)
  • experience of setting up and operating scale operations
  • strategic stakeholder management experience – preferably in both the private and public sectors
  • experience of policy formulation and its translation into effective operational reality (preferable)
  • understanding of large-scale compliance regimes involving SMEs and of large scale debt-collection regimes involving SMEs (both preferable)
  • innovation / solution generation techniques and approaches
  • experienced executive or senior director
  • significant people management and leadership experience
