If the answer to these questions is YES then you should contact The Pensions Regulator as we've got the dream opportunity for you. This is a very hands-on technical role and we are looking for a person with a strong track record of building web based solutions, preferably with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies. The role will be 100% remote initially with eventual hybrid home/office working.

This role is key to the delivery of tactical and strategic IT projects for the business.

You will be operating within an exciting and dynamic company-wide technology change programme, which will see the development and delivery of new systems enabling us to support regulatory activity in the business.

Responsibilities

  • successfully deliver technical solutions to support the business. Work across all stages and iterations of software development. Assist other developers to plan, estimate, design, implement and test software applications
  • use good problem solving skills to identify and resolve issues
  • help drive the development and application of coding standards, development processes and security. Mentor others in their use. Review and feedback on work from colleagues to achieve a high standard of code
  • embrace the organisation’s use of Lean/Agile methodologies
  • maintain a keen technical awareness; continuously learning and developing own skills. Identify, research and recommend tooling for development. Contribute to the developer community by sharing experience and knowledge and updating documentation
  • effective engagement with stakeholders on projects and support issues

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential

  • excellent knowledge of C# and .Net framework
  • experience of web technologies (eg JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC)
  • excellent understanding of object orientated design, SOLID principles and design patterns
  • excellent understanding of relational databases and SQL Server in particular
  • experience building restful APIs

Desirable

  • React.js
  • Sitecore
  • Azure DevOps
  • experience or training with Agile Scrum or Kanban methodologies is a plus
