Role

We’re looking for an experienced individual to provide design input and ongoing governance services to TPR’s Gateway and Tasking and Co-ordination Group (TCG), two new bodies created in October 2018 as part of the new governance framework delivered by the TPR Future programme (TPRF).

The Gateway is a sub-committee of our Executive Committee (ExCo) whose purpose is to oversee the delivery of outcomes contained within our corporate strategy as well as the prioritisation and monitoring of regulatory activity. TCG's primary purpose is to ensure the delivery of the prioritised regulatory activity and escalate risks that may impact our ability to deliver it.

Responsibilities

Your role will be to develop the decision-making frameworks and manage the day-to-day functioning of these bodies. The role will also involve ensuring that these bodies interact effectively with departments from across the organisation as well as with other elements of TPR’s overall corporate governance structure.

You will also be required to report on the effectiveness of Gateway and TCG to TPR’s risk and internal audit processes. You will need to be confident, resourceful and able to establish strong working relationships both with senior stakeholders and all other levels of the organisation.

Essential and desirable criteria

  • Extensive experience of leading the development of governance processes and business change at a high level of a large organisation, typically gained through broad practical experience in a non-departmental public body or similar organisation.
  • Highly skilled in communicating at all levels (orally and in writing), in order to influence and guide behaviours of senior management to ensure that the requirements of good governance and decision-making are met.
  • Ability to develop papers and presentations from draft stage to near final versions capable of being delivered to a senior audience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Highly proficient in a range of word processing and presentation tools (eg Microsoft Word and PowerPoint) and other written documents for consideration at senior level.
  • Practical experience of minuting lengthy and technically complex meetings and ensuring that decisions are accurately recorded and actions are seen through to completion.
