Role

We’re looking for an experienced Head of IT - Design and Delivery to lead our organisation through the early technology life-cycle stages of a significant digital transformation and to meet the needs of TPR’s future regulatory operating model.

Reporting to the Director of IT, you will be responsible for aligning all programmes and establishing an innovative place to work through DevOps and agile ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the three-year architecture roadmap for Applications, Information and Technology; defining a consistent use of IT Architecture principles, processes and best practice across TPR.
  • Understand organisational needs to deliver high level designs for proposed IT solutions.
  • Implement the strategy, solutions and supporting processes to deliver the transformation initiatives and ensure technology readiness throughout the lifecycle.
  • Provide senior representation for the IT Directorate as required, reporting to the Board and ExCo and leading the IT Design, Architecture and Delivery Team.
  • Provide technical assurance to internal customers ensuring effective use of IT to provide quality services and partnering with the senior management team to overcome business challenges with the right use of technology.

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential

  • Proven experience of holding positions of authority in the areas of IT Design and Architecture and technical standards within an organisation, handling a diverse range of high risk, high value and complex projects.
  • Proven experience leading the architecture, design and delivery of Enterprise and Cloud technologies, preferably in a Microsoft technology stack, ie Azure, Sharepoint, Dynamics, .Net, Sitecore and SQL Server.
  • Proven leadership skills across IT innovation and change and ability to work with customers and key stakeholders at all levels and across different organisations both inside and outside TPR.
  • Excellent knowledge of delivery methodologies and IT processes (Agile, Waterfall, ITIL).
  • Excellent knowledge of Web, Cloud and Database architecture and design principles and patterns.
  • Educated to a degree level of equivalent with minimum of 10 years working in leadership roles across IT architecture and delivery.

Desirable

  • Relevant industry qualifications: TOGAF, BCS Certificate in Enterprise and Solutions Architecture, MSP, PRINCE 2, SAFe.

Person specification

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels of TPR.
  • Strong team and people skills, mentoring, recruitment, development, motivation and coaching.
  • Ability to influence and challenge constructively with people at all levels of TPR
  • Able to work under own initiative, with minimal supervision.
  • Rigorous attention to detail.
