Role

We’re looking for an experienced Head of IT Solutions to lead, drive and manage the implementation of an exemplary internal and external customer experience across TPR’s IT solutions.

Reporting to the Director of IT and responsible for a team of 25-plus you will be responsible for establishing an IT solutions delivery model that enables TPR regulatory activities through agile, reliable, recoverable, automated, secure and cost-effective IT solutions and development practices.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • understand the business needs and requirements of internal and external TPR customers and stakeholders, optimising the design and delivery of IT solutions to maximise TPR's ability to engage with and support key stakeholder groups
  • champion, develop and implement TPR’s IT solutions strategy for the automatic enrolment transformation and systems to support regulatory activity programmes to achieve business outcomes with quality software and solutions
  • evangelise IT development, solutions and DevOps capabilities, principles and practices across solutions teams and sponsor agile, cross-team and collaborative working
  • balance supply and demand forces as an internal supplier to programmes, business-as-usual and change initiatives ensuring delivery of solutions to the appropriate time, scope and quality standards
  • advocate continuous improvement in development, solutions and DevOps methodologies, processes and standards including best practice, standards and policies relating to TPR’s target operating model
  • proactively enhance IT’s reputation by influencing internal stakeholders on IT innovation and future direction and in working with TPR 'heads of' on best practice in IT solutions

Essential criteria

  • Previous experience as a Head of IT Solutions in an IT department with experience of managing IT development, solutions, stakeholder relationships, agile and DevOps processes.
  • Strong and deep technical IT knowledge to be able to work closely with technical teams in agile solutions, development, DevOps, database administration and workplace administration.
  • IT qualified (BSc desirable or equivalent experience) and demonstrable success in applying IT disciplines.
  • Excellent knowledge of SDLC development methodologies and IT processes (agile, waterfall).
  • Deep understanding of software development technical principles, best practice and drive to implement exemplary IT solutions, development and DevOps solutions including coding standards.
  • Good experience using Microsoft development technologies (.Net) plus Cloud (Azure), commercial off-the-shelf software as well as SharePoint, Dynamics, Sitecore and SQL.
  • Understanding of web, cloud and database architecture and design principles.
  • Able to champion solutions, IT development and DevOps processes, define and implement improvements to the processes ensuring high levels of performance, quality software and establishing improvement activities when required.
  • The ability to work across functions and teams at all levels and to foster momentum and cohesion around common goals with key stakeholders.
  • A track record of leading complex design in IT solutions and IT development work and a proven ability to set the direction and translate strategic priorities into clear outcome-focused objectives for managers and teams in a demanding leadership role.
