Role

We are looking for a Project Manager to help deliver our exciting portfolio of change comprising technology, software (including COTS) and business process. This role will be responsible for delivery of small to medium-size projects (typically 2 to 12 months duration) and/or workstreams within larger programmes of work.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable relevant experience, including:

  • Successful management and delivery of small to medium-size projects and / or programme workstreams within time / cost / quality tolerances.
  • Leading teams in a matrix managed environment with resources regularly working remotely.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills across a broad set of stakeholders (up to Director level) including business customers, technology experts and third parties.
  • Applied change governance through full lifecycle from receipt of request through to implementation.
  • Accredited in an industry recognised project management methodology (eg Prince2, SAFe SM, PMP, APM or equivalent) or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver multiple small to medium-size projects and / or programme workstreams concurrently end to end in line with change governance standards, including methodology and documentation deliverables (from feasibility and business case through delivery to closure).
  • Identify, estimate, secure and manage resources required for delivery of small to medium-size projects and/or programme workstreams.
  • Identify, evaluate and proactively manage risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies to delivery of small to medium-size projects and / or programme workstreams.
  • Provide leadership to build effective and collaborative project delivery teams with a shared sense of direction in a matrix environment.
  • Gather and present information with options and recommendations to enable informed decision making by stakeholders up to Director level.

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential

  • Capable of successfully leading project teams to deliver multiple small to medium-scale changes concurrently, comprising technology, software (including COTS) and business process:
    • Duration 2 to 12 months
    • Budget up to £500k
    • Matrix project team size 5 to 15
    • Complexity – low to medium (from small contained / specialist projects up to medium transactional projects)
  • Accredited in an industry recognised project management methodology (eg Prince2, SAFe SM, PMP, APM or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
  • Skilled at stakeholder management and facilitation to be able to conclude discussions and reach consensus where multiple stakeholders may have multiple conflicting needs.
  • Skilled in planning, organising and coordinating small to medium-scale projects through the full lifecycle to ensure successful delivery, working across teams and through others within a change portfolio environment.
  • Experience of applying industry recognised project management methodology (eg Waterfall, Agile) to achieve successful delivery of small to medium-scale projects within agreed tolerances of time, cost and quality.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a regulatory environment.
  • Experience of selecting suppliers and subsequent contractual negotiations to support project delivery.
