Role

This is an exciting role to embed data and information governance into lines of business through the implementation of new technology and to build and deliver a programme to enhance data quality. You will:

  • Design, deliver and manage enterprise wide data and information governance and data quality; embedding it in the day-to-day work of operational areas.
  • Lead, build and deliver the governance processes and systems to execute and deploy the enterprise data strategy.
  • Provide leadership and direction across TPR's portfolio of change initiatives / programmes and business as usual activities; managing budget and resource to ensure delivery.
  • Delivery of an enterprise wide Data Governance Programme aligned to technical, legislative and regulatory requirements that align with the IT strategy, change programmes, corporate priorities and management of corporate risks.
  • Design and deliver a programme to define, master, and enhance data to ensure it meets the needs of the business.
  • Lead and participate in industry and relevant data alliances and networks – promoting excellence in data governance across industry and Government.
  • Lead the culture change required to ensure that the application of data governance is recognised as a key enabler to the successful delivery of TPR’s corporate strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Setting the operational standards for enterprise wide data / information governance and data quality.
  • Enterprise wide compliance with legislation, regulatory standards and policies.
  • Enterprise wide data / information governance education and awareness program.
  • Monitor organisational performance against standards and policies; maximising value, and mitigating risks.
  • Accountable for the management of pivotal data governance roles, programme of work and budget.
  • Providing assurance to the Head of Corporate Governance (DPO) and executive committees of data governance, legislative and regulatory alignment with the evolving IT strategy, change programmes, corporate priorities and management of corporate risks.

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential

  • Expert knowledge of data / information governance principles and approaches.
  • Significant experience of their application in a regulatory or operational environment.
  • Experience of managing and leading in a highly technical environment with the corresponding level of technical knowledge and experience.
  • Provide the functional and technical expertise to deliver enterprise wide data management.
  • Procure or adapt the technical tools and product infrastructure to ensure data management is cost effective and value added.

Desirable

  • Build and deliver an enterprise wide skills capability for delivering data governance.
  • Assure that technical infrastructure (on premise, PaaS, SaaS) aligns with regulatory and legal data governance requirements.
  • Experience of leading and developing data quality initiatives.
