Role

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to help deliver our exciting portfolio of change, which ranges from technology led change to business transformation. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable relevant experience, including:

  • successful management and delivery of medium – large scale projects and/or programmes within time/cost/quality tolerances
  • leading teams in a matrix managed environment with resources regularly working remotely
  • good interpersonal and communications skills across a broad set of stakeholders (up to Executive Director level) including business customers, technology experts and third parties
  • applied change governance through full lifecycle from receipt of request through to implementation
  • accreditation in an industry recognised project management methodology (eg PRINCE2, agile, PMP, APM or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Define, establish and operate appropriate project approach and structure in line with our hybrid Agile/Waterfall change governance standards.
  • Provide leadership to build effective and collaborative project teams with a shared sense of direction in a matrix environment.
  • Identify, estimate, secure and manage resources and budget required for project delivery to inform resource assignment up to an enterprise level.
  • Identify, evaluate and proactively manage risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies to project delivery to inform impacts to delivery, including portfolio impacts.
  • Gather and present information with options and recommendations to enable informed decision making by stakeholders up to Executive Director and Portfolio Oversight Board level.

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential

  • Capable of successfully leading project teams to deliver multiple medium to large scale projects concurrently, across a range of technology led and business operating model scenarios.
  • Highly skilled at stakeholder management and facilitation to be able to conclude discussions and reach consensus where multiple stakeholders may have multiple conflicting needs.
  • Extensive experience of applying industry recognised project management methodology (eg agile/waterfall) to achieve successful delivery of medium to large scale projects within agreed tolerances of time, cost and quality.
  • Accredited to Practitioner level in an industry recognised project management methodology (eg PRINCE2, Agile, PMP, APM or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently to all stakeholders, both orally and in writing, to influence thinking and to indirectly manage the action of others eg stakeholders up to Executive Director and Portfolio Oversight Board level.
  • Experience of working in a regulatory environment.

Desirable

  • Experience of projects with significant procurement activities, including selecting suppliers and subsequent contractual negotiations to support project delivery.
