Role

We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master to help deliver our exciting portfolio of change comprising technology, software (including COTS) and business process. In addition this role will support the adoption of Agile methodology across the portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable relevant experience, including:

  • Successful management and delivery of medium to large scale digital and data projects and / or programmes within time / cost / quality tolerances using Agile methodology.
  • Leading teams in a matrix managed environment with resources regularly working remotely.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills across a broad set of stakeholders (up to Executive Director level) including business customers, technology experts and third parties.
  • Applied Agile change governance through full lifecycle from receipt of request through to implementation.
  • Accredited to Practitioner level in an industry recognised Agile project management methodology (eg SAFe SM, APMG Certified Agile Project Management Practitioner, AgilePgM etc) or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define, establish and operate appropriate project approach and structure in line with change governance standards.
  • Provide leadership to build effective and collaborative project teams with a shared sense of direction in a matrix environment.
  • Identify, estimate, secure and manage resources and budget required for project delivery to inform resource assignment up to an organisational level.
  • Identify, evaluate and proactively manage risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies to project delivery to inform impacts to delivery up to an organisational level.
  • Mentor and coach stakeholders in medium to large project delivery practice and influence thinking.

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential

  • Capable of successfully leading project teams to deliver multiple medium to large scale projects concurrently, comprising technology, software (including COTS) and business operating model change using Agile methodology:
    • Duration 6 to 18 months
    • Budget £500,000 up to £1.5 million
    • Matrix project team size 10 to 50
    • Complexity – medium to high (from medium transactional projects up to large transformational projects)
  • Accredited to Practitioner level in an industry recognised Agile project management methodology (eg SAFe SM, APMG Certified Agile Project Management Practitioner, AgilePgM etc) or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to mentor and coach stakeholders in medium to large project delivery practice and influence thinking.
  • Highly skilled at stakeholder management and facilitation to be able to conclude discussions and reach consensus where multiple stakeholders may have multiple conflicting needs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently to all stakeholders, both orally and in writing, to influence thinking and to indirectly manage the action of others, eg stakeholders up to Executive Director and Portfolio Oversight Board level.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a regulatory environment.
  • Accredited to Practitioner level in an industry recognised Waterfall project management methodology (eg PRINCE2, PMP, APM or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of selecting suppliers and subsequent contractual negotiations to support project delivery.
