Role

We’re looking for a PMO Analyst to work in the central Portfolio Management Office.

The role will be responsible for managing risk at both a Change and Portfolio level, producing accurate and timely MI, managing the Lessons Learnt process and ensuring clear action plans are derived to address areas for improvement and taking forward portfolio assurance initiatives as identified by the wider Change Directorate.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of accurate and timely MI to enable key strategic decision making at all levels. Ensure formal reports and papers, including to the Board, ExCo and other Management Committees are effectively planned and coordinated to meet submission deadlines and standards.
  • Maintain Directorate and Portfolio risk log, picking up emerging risks and proactively escalate where appropriate as well as supporting owners with mitigation proposals.
  • Support, mentor and coach project managers in best practice and TPR project governance standards and providing expert advice to stakeholders.
  • Identify particular themes or areas for improvement in order to drive project / programme management assurance.
  • Manage the Lessons Learned process and undertake lessons learned sessions as required specifically highlighting emerging issues and any relevant recommendations.
  • Manage the business assurance process, ensure information is collated and submitted in a timely manner and identify any further areas for improvement .

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential

  • Extensive experience and ability to collate, effectively present and communicate complex information and data from across functions.
  • Provide challenge to projects, looking at project plans, controls, quality of delivery and adherence to TPR project governance .
  • Risk management knowledge and experience.
  • Lead others to follow best practice and governance standards .
  • Strong co-ordination, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Collate emerging themes from Lessons Learned and devise relevant action plans to address any issues or problems.

Desirable

  • Formal Project Management and PMO qualifications such as Prince2, P3O.
  • Produce management information to enable and inform strategic and operational decision making up to and including Executive and Board level.
