A staff member has handed in their notice although they have just started earning over £833 a month - do I need to put them into a pension scheme and make contributions?

If a member of staff gives notice to leave your employment, or you give them notice, and they are:

  • aged between 22 up to State Pension Age and
  • earning more than £10,000 per year, or £833 per month or, £192 per week

you can choose whether to put them into a pension scheme that you also pay money into.
