Role

We are looking for a Paralegal to provide high level, focussed and efficient support to the Automatic Enrolment Legal team. As well as AE litigation before the First Tier Tribunal, criminal prosecutions, and debt cases, there is a broad range of advisory work. This includes opportunities in procurement, commercial, and information law.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • manage your own litigation cases before the First Tier Tribunal, including preparing responses, providing advice, organising evidence and appearing at Tribunals as required
  • liaise with legal counsel and other external parties as required
  • provide support to TPR lawyers as requested
  • conduct legal research, on request
  • provide support to Know How groups, and Subject Experts, including collating and disseminating legal updates, as requested
  • attend meetings / hearings to provide administrative support, as required
  • provide support to case teams through the efficient management of documents (using TPR’s document management, or external, software) including indexing, document collation, document organisation and a limited amount of evidence analysis
  • create and maintain an index of documents for disclosure and undertake disclosure exercises as required

Essential and desirable criteria

Essential

  • Relevant legal qualification (for example, Law degree, CPE, LPC, ILEX or equivalent) and knowledge of Court / Regulatory procedures.
  • Knowledge of public law general principles.
  • Client-focussed approach.
  • Previous paralegal experience ideally conducted within a civil litigation or regulation setting with a proven ability to coordinate numerous case files at one time.
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate (orally and in writing) to a variety of audiences including external parties, legal counsel and internal stakeholders up to Board level.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience of standard IT software applications (for example, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management systems.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Data Protection and Information law general principles.
  • Project management experience.
  • Working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and Criminal Procedure Rules.
