Role
Our Data, Digital and Technology vision is to be a catalyst for pensions innovation and regulatory effectiveness. We’re using digital, data, and technology to revolutionise pension regulation, making it more efficient, secure, transparent, and customer-centred.
Our data team has accountability for the data estate and is responsible for the organisation’s approach to data. We're data-enabled, not data-driven: we work with engineers, product managers, and other disciplines to understand how data can best support the needs of the organisation and ultimately savers.
We are on a fast-paced journey, and in recent years TPR has gone through significant technological and business change, including having fully migrated to Microsoft Azure. As part of these new systems, we have an enterprise-scale Azure data platform and engineering capability.
We’re looking for a Data Governance, Knowledge and Information Lead to join our Data team. This is an exciting role where you will embed data and information governance into business. You’ll design, deliver, and lead enterprise-wide data and information governance, including AI, embedding these practices into the day-to-day work of operational areas.
You’ll lead and implement governance processes and systems to execute the enterprise data strategy. Additionally, you will provide leadership across TPR’s change initiatives and BAU activities, managing budget and resources to ensure delivery. You will deliver an enterprise-wide Data Governance Programme aligned with technical, legislative, and regulatory requirements, and design and deliver a programme to define, master, and enhance data to meet business needs.
Furthermore, you will lead and participate in industry and data alliances, promoting excellence in data governance across the industry and government. Finally, you will drive the culture change needed to recognize data governance as a key enabler of TPR’s corporate strategy.
Responsibilities
Our Data Governance, Knowledge and Information Lead will be accountable for:
- setting the operational standards for enterprise wide data/information governance
- enterprise wide compliance with legislation, regulatory standards and policies
- monitoring organisational performance against standards and policies; maximising value, and mitigating risks
- working along slide the DPO, legal and corporate risk functions
- contributing to compliance with ISO8000, logging TPR wide
- supporting and programme management and delivery of the data strategy
- leading the Data Governance, Knowledge and Information Management team to ensure effective team performance
- establishing and maintain enterprise-wide data/information governance including the education and awareness program
- leading all aspects of compliance with legislation, regulatory standards, and policies across the organisation
- creating and implement an enterprise-wide data information governance education and awareness program
- tracking organisational performance against standards and policies, maximising value and mitigating risks
- overseeing key data governance roles, programmes of work, and budget to ensure successful delivery
- providing assurance to our Data Protection Officer and Executive Committees of data governance, legislative and regulatory alignment with the evolving IT strategy, change programmes, corporate priorities and management of corporate risks
- implementing governance processes and systems to execute the enterprise data strategy
- promoting the recognition of data governance as a key enabler of TPR’s corporate strategy
Essential and desirable criteria
- Expert knowledge of Data/Information Governance principles and approaches such as controls, role-based access, document labels and retention policies and other relevant policies in the capture, use and sharing of data.
- Significant experience of their application in a regulatory or operational environment.
- Experience of managing and leading in a highly technical environment with the corresponding level of technical knowledge and experience.
- Provide the functional and technical expertise to deliver enterprise wide data governance.
- Procure or adapt the technical tools and product infrastructure to ensure data governance is cost-effective and value-added.
- Experience of preparing for and demonstrating compliance with relevant ISO and government standards for data, knowledge, and information management.
- Experience of delivering training programmes to increase data literacy.
