Role and responsibilities
We are looking a Principal Analyst (Mixed Methods) to join our evolving Evidence, Research and Analysis team. This new role will support TPR to deliver better saver outcomes through impactful evidence, research and analysis.
You will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic evidence and insights to inform decision-making at TPR. You will oversee a portfolio of research and analytical products, delivered using appropriate quantitative or qualitative insight to provide high-quality, consistent, and timely evidence.
Typically, as part of this role, you will work to:
- identify gaps in TPR’s evidence base and collaborating across the organization to gather necessary insights
- commission fit-for-purpose analysis and research to ensure the quality and rigor of analytical outputs
- oversee multi-disciplinary teams to deliver insights supporting TPR’s emerging and future needs using appropriate methodologies
- manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government and industry bodies
- support and ensure continuous improvement within the Evidence, Research and Analysis team
Critically, as TPR’s regulatory needs evolve, you will be able to flexibly pivot to focus on new work areas.
You will form constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government departments, professional bodies, and industry representatives. By advocating for continuous improvement and providing learning opportunities, you will contribute to the overall development of the research and analysis capabilities within TPR.
Essential and desirable criteria
Essential
- Postgraduate education in a relevant subject (e.g., social research, numerical subject, or a subject with a significant component of statistics) or equivalent professional experience.
- Significant experience leading research or analytical teams in commercial, government, or regulatory environments.
- Experience in overseeing, planning, and coordinating an annual portfolio of work, managing multiple stakeholders and day-to-day requests.
- Proven track record in designing, developing, and implementing analysis or research to support strategic priorities, using most appropriate methodologies (quantitative or qualitative).
- Strong knowledge and practitioner experience of research methodologies with dual expertise in statistical analysis and research tool design (quantitative and qualitative).
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex research to senior audiences, explaining its relevance and significance.
Desirable
- Experience commissioning and managing external research partners to deliver on time and within budget.
- Expertise in managing and developing multi-disciplinary analytical teams, and overseeing the deployment of resources based on project requirements.
- Deep understanding of the UK pensions landscape, regulatory system, and TPR’s role.
