Supervision of master trusts

The ongoing duties for master trust pension schemes and how The Pensions Regulator will supervise these schemes.

Master trust supervision: an introduction

Once your master trust has been authorised we will supervise it on an ongoing basis.

Supervisory return

As part of supervision, all master trusts must submit a supervisory return to us annually.

Significant event duties

The Pension Schemes Act 2017 requires individuals involved in running an authorised master trust scheme to notify us if certain significant events occur.

Triggering event duties

The Pension Schemes Act 2017 places duties on those involved with running master trust pension schemes. This includes a duty to report certain events to us which may indicate that the scheme cannot continue to operate.
