Debt recovery

Published: 25 October 2022

  1. We are responsible for collecting all financial penalties.
  2. Other notices, such as contribution notices issued under s38, may impose a liability to pay a sum of money to a trustee or the PPF. These are not covered by this section.
  3. Penalty notices specify a reasonable timeframe to pay (at least 28 days). Where the Determinations Panel imposes a penalty, it must be paid within 28 days from the date of the penalty notice. We expect full payment but, depending on the circumstances, may exceptionally agree to a payment plan. We issue a receipt in all cases.
  4. If the debt remains outstanding and either no payment plan is in place or an agreed payment plan is not being adhered to, we may begin civil proceedings through the courts to recover any unpaid penalty debt. This may include instruction of bailiffs. We may also seek to recover our costs and interest in addition to the unpaid penalty debt.
